Cadenza (choir)
Cadenza is a mixed-voice chamber choir based in Edinburgh, Scotland. The choir was formed in 1992 and quickly gained a reputation for a high standard of performance, winning the Scotland and North England heat of the Sainsbury's Choir of the Year competition in both 1996 and 1998.〔http://www.cadenza.org.uk/about〕 The current musical director is Jenny Summerling.〔http://www.cadenza.org.uk/about/musical-director〕
Cadenza perform several concerts throughout the year, with the major event of the season being a performance of a major choral work - often accompanied by an orchestra and professional soloists - in the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August each year. Such performances have received high praise from the press, notably Conrad Wilson of the Herald, who reviewed both the 2005 concert〔http://www.cadenza.org.uk/about/reviews〕 and the 2006 concert, which contained the Edinburgh premiere of Jan Dismas Zelenka's Missa dei Filla.〔http://www.heraldscotland.com/sport/spl/aberdeen/fringe-music-1.98034〕

Cadenza is scheduled to appear as part of the Raymond Gubbay 2010 Christmas Festival concerts in both Edinburgh's Usher Hall and Glasgow's Royal Concert Hall, building on reviews〔http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/classical-reviews/Review-Carols-By-Candlelight-Usher.5937495.jp〕 from the same concert series in 2009.
In August 2010, the choir announced the recording of a new CD, due to be released in 2012. According to the choir website,〔http://www.cadenza.org.uk/newcd〕 the CD will feature "20th Century Christmas music with a Scottish flavour".
